The uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Mountain Park is situated in the Eastern interior of South Africa, snaking in between Lesotho and the province of KwaZulu Natal. It falls roughly half way between Johannesburg (a 3 to 4 hour drive by car), the economic powerhouse of Africa, and Durban (a 2 to 3 hour drive by car), a major port.

The Drakensberg is best
accessed from Johannesburg or Durban (which both have
international airports) by car.
Buses and shuttle services are available but, due to the lack of car hire companies in our area, travellers are well advised to have their own transport in the Drakensberg to be able to experience the different aspects thereof.

We will gladly advise you on the best routes to get you to the Drakensberg as well as what is worth seeing on the way here. But the N3 (national highway) is the quickest route from either city.
